Mikey Smith likes music that is pretty but not too pretty. From the moment that he first heard Bill Evans at the age of 18, Mikey knew that the piano would become a central part of his life. He has since toured internationally, played for sold out crowds, and performed with some of the top performance companies in the world.
Mikey’s music splashes canvases of minimal classical textures with dashes of harmonic color. He is as inspired by Phillip Glass as by Brad Mehldau. Alongside his originals, Mikey like to play pieces from the modern classical repetoire, the Beatles, and Thelonous Monk.
In addition to his piano music, Mikey composes music for film, television, dance, video games, and commercial media, and makes electronic music under the name Particle Parade.
